Marney-Rose Edge
Bio
I was born in Napier, New Zealand. I immigrated to Canada
in 1992 after living in Australia, England and the U.S.A.
I married my soul mate, Gary, who is Canadian and I share
2 teenage step sons. My career in the Graphic Arts/Printing
industry has greatly influenced my love of light and color.
My journey through the many different forms of arts and crafts
from childhood has cumulated into a passion for painting.
Inspired by John Singer Sargent’s “mastery of light” I strive
to capture this in my paintings of my favorite subjects in
the medium of watercolor. I continue to explore and grow
my artistic knowledge by attending workshop’s with well known
artists. I became an active member of the FCA in the spring
of 2007.
Artist’s Statement
"My message comes from the love of light
and color. My inspiration comes from John Singer Sargent
and J.W Turner. In my art I strive to capture the emotional
mood that strikes me when I chose to create a painting, be
it a still life or floral in a realistic style or an abstraction.
My passion is to share that feeling with my audience. In
the abstract painting I use an intuitive process with creative
expression from my subconscious with no preconceived ideas.
It is an exciting and surprising process to discover an emerging
image on the canvas. I’m always learning in everything I
do and from the people I meet. I consider myself a life time
student. "
Exhibitions
My paintings have been accepted into many juried
shows in the Lower Mainland and with the Federation of Canadian
Artists. I have participated in solo, group shows and organized
events. My paintings have been used in the promotion of events
and published in the Art Avenue magazine. In 2009 I have
been honored with an “Award of Excellence” for one of my
watercolors.
